 Travel and Destination Photography

I’m based in Raleigh, North Carolina, and I photograph weddings and sessions throughout North Carolina and beyond. Travel is a regular part of my work, and I believe expectations around it should be clear and straightforward.

This page explains how travel is handled, what’s included, and how destination coverage typically works.

Where I’m Based

I’m based in Raleigh, NC, and regularly photograph weddings and sessions across the state and out of state. My approach to travel is designed to be flexible, predictable, and fair, without hidden costs or confusing policies.

North Carolina Travel

Some North Carolina locations do not require a travel fee, while others do. Here’s how that breaks down.

Locations With No Travel Fee

Travel fees are not applied for sessions and weddings in:

  • Boone

  • Banner Elk

These High Country locations are places I work in often and are treated as part of my standard service area.

Travel Elsewhere in North Carolina

For locations outside of Raleigh and the Boone and Banner Elk area, travel is billed at $25 per hour, with accommodations added only if an overnight stay is required.

This applies to locations including, but not limited to:

  • Asheville

  • Coastal North Carolina

  • Rural or remote venues requiring extended drive time

Any travel expectations are always discussed clearly before booking.

Out-of-State and Destination Coverage

I’m available for weddings and sessions outside of North Carolina, including destination events.

For out-of-state coverage, travel is typically handled in one of the following ways:

  • $25 per hour plus accommodations, or

  • Flight and accommodations covered by the client, depending on distance and logistics

The exact approach is confirmed in advance so there are no surprises.

Destination Experience

Destination weddings and sessions often require additional planning, flexibility, and coordination. Coverage may include:

  • Travel-day considerations

  • Location scouting

  • Timeline planning that accounts for light, weather, and logistics

  • Backup plans for unexpected changes

I approach destination work with the same level of preparation and care as local events.

Past Travel Experience

I’ve photographed weddings and sessions in multiple states, including Colorado and Florida, and I’m always open to traveling to new places.

Destination availability is based on scheduling, logistics, and fit, not a fixed list of locations.

How Travel Is Confirmed

All travel details are reviewed and confirmed before anything is booked. That includes:

  • Location

  • Travel time

  • Any overnight accommodations

  • Arrival and departure considerations

Clear communication upfront ensures everyone is on the same page.

If You’re Unsure

If you’re not sure whether your location requires travel, or how it might affect coverage, I’m always happy to talk it through. The goal is to make planning easier, not more complicated.
