Halee and Noah's Wedding at Trump National Golf Club

Trump Golf Charlotte Wedding

I knew I loved Halee and Noah the moment I met them. Both are so very laid back and easy to be around. They were not interested in too many bells or whistles, they didn’t even want to do the wedding party shenanigans, just say “I do” and throw a party! Covid of course helped them with this as they had to go ahead and elope last year and have that big party this year, but it was only that much more exciting for having to wait!

They met at the Tropicana Bar in Cornelius not too very long ago just a few miles away from Trump Golf Charlotte where they held the wedding, and then he proposed in the Maldives! They love their local area and also love to travel, with big plans ahead.

Halee’s grandmother gifted her with the bible she had carried down the aisle herself. Their marriage stood the test of time and this was her way of wishing many years of happiness to them.

For favors, they used Pittsburgh Cookies baked with love from the family, everyone made their own bag of treats to take home, it was a huge hit!

Engaged at Shenandoah National Park, Eloped on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Covid-Wed after six other plans fell through with a small group of their closest family and friends at home in Charlotte. To say that these two are up for any adventure that comes their way is an understatement. For better, for worse, in sickness and in health has kept them grounded as they navigated this craziest of all years.

With all the mess of Covid postponing their first wedding date, and continuing to threaten their second date, they decided to go ahead and share their vows with each other on the side of a mountain last month. Being married in the Catholic church they knew they wouldn’t be able to write their own vows so they thought this would be the perfect time to say everything they really wanted to say.

After hiking with headlamps before the sun rose they spoke with sincerity and tenderness:

Sarah: “Throughout our entire relationship in all of its forms, you’ve consistently showed me that expectations can be exceeded. You believed in me…and made sure I wouldn’t be adventuring alone.

As your wife…I vow to push you to be the best version of yourself…and to keep life exciting and to make sure you never have to face this world alone.”

Davis: “I wouldn’t have it any other way, it fits. It’s us. It’s our story. I vow we will take on this world together. This is and always will be an equal partnership. In the end we are infinitly stronger together than we are apart.

I have no idea what the next chapter of our story holds, but as long as you are by my side, then that’s enough for me.”

I was so incredibly honored to be a part of their vow exchange. It gave me hope for the future amid the craziest of years. Their shared day with family was no different. With masks at the ready, they walked with grace and affection for each and every person there to celebrate them.

Sarah wore a diamond necklace and earrings that her dad gave to her mom for their wedding. He gave it to her during their heartfelt first look just before the ceremony.

Jetton Park Engagement Session | Rich and Sarah

Engagement photos at Jetton Park

The Charlotte Summer heat was sweltering as I walked around Jetton Park with Sarah and Rich for their engagement session Wednesday, but they were rockstars anyway. Three outfits changes and circling the park a couple times to find the best light would be too much for most people, but they powered through and we were able to finish with a bourbon just up the street as a reward.

I knew these two were going to be fun because they wanted to wear their team jerseys for some of the photos, and their baseball teams are rivals. Rich explained that the family jokingly gave Sarah a hard time for agreeing to marry him because of it. They are a great fit regardless of team preferences though.

I asked them to share their favorite moment in their relationship so far and both of them had the same favorite, their proposal in Cancun! How could you choose anything different after something so epic though?!? They were so sweet as they reminisced about it and were even able to show me photos! I can’t wait to see how they form new favorites through the years.

Luckily their college teams are in different conferences so they’re able to happily support each others’ teams at games.

When Sarah told me she smiles like Chandler on Friends, I couldn’t help but laugh. This beauty couldn’t be awkward if she tried. With a big bright smile all morning she kept looking to Davis as if to ask if she was doing it right, and all he could do was give an even bigger smile in return.

These two met at UNC Charlotte and dated for a couple years before Davis surprised her with a proposal at one of her bucket list spots! Shenandoah National Park! How amazing is that?!? (If national parks are on your bucket list, we’re a perfect match by the way)

We had to reschedule a few times because the weather kept being uncooperative but it was totally worth it as yesterday morning was incredible! They rolled up bright and early and even brought me breakfast since we were getting such an early start, such a thoughtful couple!

As they were talking about their future plans I couldn’t help but smile since they’re similar to mine. Lots of dogs were involved and possibly a cat, they might have envisioned a farm, but no matter what was discussed, they were together. As they should be, a perfect match if I ever saw one.

Lake Norman Wedding

When you get to watch a relationship bloom from the very first date until they say, "I Do," it gives you a whole new appreciation for love. Through the life transitions, disagreements, home repairs and wedding planning Susie and Ron have only grown more and more in love. I feel like we just did their engagement session yesterday and here we are a house brimming to the top with friends and family and every one of us ready to celebrate.

I adore meeting and spending time with all the extended family members of my couples, but these guys hold and extra special place in my heart. My brothers, of course, at the center, but also half-step brothers, adopted cousins and feisty grandmas, neighbors who've become friends and the very best celebration anyone could ask for. Guests traveled from all over the country to celebrate with Susie and Ron (and of course for Betsy's 95th birthday).

Everyone had so many wonderful things to say about them both, as they are one of the most welcoming, gracious hosts you could ask for. I heard story after story of how individually and as a couple they've been there to support their loved ones; they take care of so many people and live life to the fullest every day. It has been such an honor and a blessing to become a small part of this huge and incredible group of people.

I asked Susie what Ron has to do to make up if he makes her mad, "He just has to make me laugh," she said. (and he promptly whispered something to her causing a huge belly laugh) ;) Susie loves to laugh and no one is better at it than Ron.
